Apple Store coming to Baton Rouge
October 18, 2007
An Apple Store is coming to Baton Rouge in Spring 2008. Wish it were in New Orleans but this probably makes a lot more sense. Not having an Apple Store around was one of the few of the cons when I was thinking about moving here.

Why would Apple put a store in New Orleans? Perhaps pre-Katrina made sense but definitely not now. New Orleans is fast becoming a wasteland of nothingness, which breaks my heart!
I don’t know what the hell you are thinking about New orleans…i just so happen to stumble upon this page and to hear someone say something about new orleans like that is ridiculous. Do you live there? Because NOLA is making a comeback…restaurants are booming, neighborhoods are being rebuilt, and the industry (movie, ect) is coming back better than ever. It’s just time before they put one on Canal Street or St. Charles. New Orleans isn’t a wasteland…sorry JW
JW is just ignorant…not his fault, buying into the national media BS. The thing about the new orleans metro area is that it’s comprised of several different parishes (kinda like counties) and there are more people in the metro area now than there were Pre-K. And while the demographics may not make sense to put an apple store in NOLA (orleans parish), it does make sense to put one in neighboring Jefferson parish (right next door).
Personally, I think they missed the boat by not putting one here after the storm. Think of how many people lost computers…tens-of-thousands of computers were replaced and many would have made “the switch” if they could have gone to the store to buy their computers and seek support afterwards. Considering the large community of musicians and film makers down here it seems to be a perfect fit. Plus the PR the could have gleamed from it. I think Lakeside mall will have one before we have one in NOLA, but better than going to Baton Rouge.
On second thought, JW you ARE an idiot.
I live in New Orleans. Go ahead and buy into the media. This city has lost its charm and is becoming shittier by the day.
I grew up in N.O, and am helping rebuild. It simply does not have the demographics to support an Apple Retail store. Folks inside N.O. think it’s so drastically different from the rest of Louisiana, and it’s some meca. Wrong, Lafayette and Shreveport have more going for them, and way more money, than New Orleans has, even pre-Katrina. I love my hometown of New Orleans, but it’s a TINY city, and does not command the majority of money or commerce in the state. And post-Katrina, it’s not the same, never will be, and is not rebuilding very fast, and it not “booming”. Sad, but absolutely true.
