Booksmarts Preview
February 24, 2007
A Preview of Booksmarts, the transformation of V3 into a proper WordPress theme. It’s about 75% there, but still needs some finessing. I’d like to create an interface for choosing the Asides category (it’s currently hard-coded in two places) and need a better fallback if the FlickrRSS plug-in isn’t installed. But it’s getting there, as this default installation (with greeking loaded in to get a sense of the articles) shows.

Sorry, comments have been disabled for a few days by accident. Everything’s back to normal now.
I like the layout of your web site (and of the template, too). I prefer such simple but effective layouts.
Lookin’ great Matt. I see, or I did when I checked it out last week, haven’t been back since, that your demo header font is a serif as opposed to the one you’re using. It’s a personal choice for sure, but I think this one works better.
Header font aside, it’s a wonderful theme. Looking forward to giving it a spin.
Thanks, Amos. The header in the default installation is all done with HTML text, no images, so I’ve tried to specify fonts as best I can that will look good “out of the box.” I’m sure I’ll continue to adjust as work progresses on it, as I tend to do. :)
No problem Matt. I always feel it’s good to offer a little feedback and I often forget to when I’m quite fond of something, as I am of your theme. And yes, adjusting can become quite an obsession. Lord knows I’ve spent far to many hours re-arranging words in my writing often ending up where I first began. Cheers.
