My guess is that Donnie McClurkin wasn't anywhere near Senator Obama's radar, it was some really awful staffwork that led to him being invited onto the tour.

And now the senator is in an impossible position -- disinvite McClurkin and alienate the African-American base he's trying so hard to court, or offend the gays, a small but loud minority that could give Obama a big push over Senator Clinton if he had our support.

Obama is smart enough to come up with a solution to this problem. Unfortunately, so far, his staff doesn't seem to be.

That is the suck. I hope Obama distances himself from Donnie McClurkin. I wonder if Obama know McClurkin's issues.

I can't help, but wonder if the heat isn't self-destructive for people that want a reasonable government. The "right" pump in so much money into making it "us vs theme". I think publicly forcing Obama to further take position on this issue pre-elected is dangerous.

That is the reality. We have to look to at the likely outcomes, not look to people to be sensible.
