On no-follow

February 15, 2007

Do Follow. Dougal Campbell makes a point I hadn’t considered before. No-follow seemed like a good idea at the time, but the possible benefits no longer outweigh the downsides. (Via Lloyd’s post on the matter.)

Unfortunately, so long as it remains in the core, most people won’t consider it. And even if they do, they’ll wonder why they should bother.

Hopefully the Wordpress team will eventually realize it’s time for NoFollow to go.

Dofollow is generally a good idea for blogs, as the increase in traffic and comments is worth the google juice you spend on the external links.

Yes I have definitely changed my thinking in regards to the nofollow rule. I do-follow links now on my Aussie housewife blog. After a long time procrastinating I have seen the importance of dofollow and using the “do follow” principal to help keep the Internet better connected. http://www.reallyreally.net – Take a look at my dofollow blog and feel free to comment. Thank you, Regards Bree.
