September 11, 2005
  • Good food
  • Smoking sections
  • College football fever
  • Roads without potholes
  • Being able to go for a drive at night
  • Southern accents
  • A sky unpolluted by city lights
  • Oppressive, miserable heat and humidity

You know what I miss about my time in the south (admittedly small town Texas, which only sorta counts)? Bald-faced, unapologetic racism and homophobia. Oh wait, no. I don’t miss that. =-)

You know, I’m not sure if it’s just because I’m extra-special lucky or what, but the only two times in my life I’ve encountered real homophobia, with the threat of violence, have been here in Maryland.

People down south may not be in favor of equal rights for gays and lesbians, but generally they’re not going to go out of their way to fuck with you, either.

Matt, I blame myself for that. I should have realized you were gay earlier and then beat the holy living crap out of you.

I think a pertinent question would be: What would you miss if you left B’more and headed back to the hills?

  6. Avatar Matt September 13, 2005, 3:53 am

I can miss things without necessarily wanting to go back there, right? I’ve got no intention of leaving. Those are simply the things I miss about back home. Don’t read too much into it. :)

You must have been sleep deprived from all that fancy creative work you are doing to make millions.

You seemed to forget listing that which you long for the most…

    You know who I am.

    Yes, I complete you.

Hah. I’m moving to San Antonio in January. I ‘spect in a few years I’ll be saying shit like

    Yankee food

    55 beers on tap

    Roads with potholes

    blue state goodness

Not having to drive 30 miles for beer at night

    The opposite of southern accents

    Snow

    Old growth trees

Have your say

Don’t be a jerk.
