Traveling Leica

February 25, 2005

My object of lust for the past year has finally been purchased and is on its way to me. Somehow, the anticipation after ordering the thing is about a thousand times higher than it was when I was waiting to place the order.

A big, bad kudos to Tony Rose at POPflash for not only having the best prices, but also for having shipped out the camera an hour after I placed my order. From clicking “submit” to receiving the camera is going to be less than 24 hours, and I am extremely impressed.

So, back to the anticipation thing. Now I’m clicking furiously, unable to sleep, reloading the FedEx tracking page every 15 minutes to see where my camera is. I am worse than a ten-year-old on Christmas. This is fun.

let’s hope Leica survives the year.

Here’s to that. But I’m not concerned. I’ve been buying computers from “beleaguered” Apple for years. And Leica has been around forever. I can’t really imagine that they won’t be able to survive this.

As long as they’re in business for three years (the length of my warranty) I’ll be happy.

No matter whether they survive or not, for you will still have a wondrous machine to inspire, excite and motivate you for the next 50 years. Congratulations.
